Carlos Barajas
Carlos Barajas is senior vice president and chief safety officer at Sempra Infrastructure. Barajas leads Sempra Infrastructure’s health, safety, security, and operational excellence efforts.
Most recently, Barajas was senior vice president and chief business officer for clean power business line. Prior to that role, he was chief power and storage operating officer for Sempra’s subsidiary in Mexico, IEnova. Previously, he served as IEnova’s chief operating officer from 2016 to 2018, vice president of operations from 2013 to 2016 and vice president of gas in 2013.
Prior to joining IEnova, Barajas was general director at Altamira’s LNG's terminal in Tamaulipas, Mexico. Barajas has extensive experience in the energy industry in Mexico, including serving as director of business development at Shell Mexico, commercial director for InterGen Mexico, and commercial manager for Energía Mayakan.
Barajas holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the Instituto Politécnico Nacional, a master's degree in engineering from British Columbia University, and a master's degree in business and economics from Universidad Anáhuac.
