June is national safety month. For Port Arthur LNG, safety is a top priority, year around.
Port Arthur LNG recently received the National Safety Council’s Perfect Record Award in recognition of the more than 1.7 million hours worked without a recordable safety incident.
“Sempra Infrastructure is invested in being an industry leader and championing health, safety, and security programs that protect our people, projects and operations,” said Andrew Chartrand, senior director of safety, environmental and sustainable operations for Sempra Infrastructure. “We reinforce a safety-first culture for our employees and contractors and seek continuous improvement through measurement and learning from events and observations.”
As part of the Port Arthur LNG project and to help improve public safety, a portion of Highway 87 between the Intracoastal Waterway and Keith Lake Pass was relocated and built to TxDOT standards. The effort included consolidating and upgrading pipelines running alongside the route and upgrading a segment of the City of Port Arthur’s waterline. The new portion of the highway opened for public use in October 2021.
The National Safety Council’s Perfect Record Award recognizes companies, locations or divisions that have completed a period of at least 12 consecutive months without incurring an occupational injury or illness that resulted in days away from work or death.
