1. Tell us about yourself. What are some of your interests and hobbies?
I just found myself a new hobby. We recently bought a skid steer and during the snowstorm I was able to get a feel for it and I love it! My next big thing will be using the implements and getting a feel for those as well
2. Tell us about your role.
I have been with Sempra for more than eight years. Currently, I work with the Engineering and Construction group in the Port Arthur LNG road relocation project, where I gather and compile the required TxDOT documentation and verify documentation from our vendors to ensure accuracy and completion. I also assist with receiving and checking documentation against the actual material received.
3. What do you enjoy most about your role? What do you find most rewarding?
I really enjoy working with a diverse group of people. The most rewarding part of my job is seeing my group’s work move on to new phases of the project and continue to make progress. It’s also exciting to get started on the new projects and take on new challenges.
4. What does celebrating and highlighting women in construction mean to you?
I think it’s great that women have found their footing in construction. When I started out over 16 years ago, you did not see many women working at the sites or in management roles. That has changed, there are many women supervisors and leaders now. I hope it encourages young women go into the construction field.
5. Which one of our core values, do the right thing, champion people and shape the future, do you relate to the most and why?
I relate to our value of championing people the most. I worked for an aircraft company in California with a very diverse group. I learned so much from them and really missed having that culture when I left. I was able to find that again at Sempra. I love that diversity and inclusion is embraced within Sempra. I appreciate the stories that are shared by fellow employees about their own experiences and respect Sempra so much for encouraging them to share and be their authentic selves.
