At Sempra Infrastructure, we are committed to living our values of doing the right thing, championing people and shaping the future as we strive to create opportunities for the next generation of leaders.
In the United States, we energize communities where we have projects and operations through the various efforts including the Innovative Educators Initiative. This initiative provides grants to teachers in K-12 schools in Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana to enhance science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) activities in the classroom. The funding also provides support for things like hands-on projects, computer software programs, classroom equipment, fieldtrips and more.
In Sabine Pass, Texas, our Port Arthur LNG team has also partnered with Sabine Pass Independent School District to provide support for a new school career and technology center with augmented reality and virtual reality capabilities. This new technology combines augmented reality and virtual reality and will deliver immersive and interactive learning experiences by providing students with opportunities to delve deeper, manipulate virtual models and even create their own designs and experiments.
In Mexico, we have the successful Operator Training Program, an initiative that allows us to recruit recent engineering graduates to participate in intensive technical training for three months. Students selected to participate in the program receive financial compensation, accommodations, meals, transportation and materials through the duration of the course. At the conclusion of the training program, many graduates are invited to join our team full-time.
This commitment to education and youth also goes far beyond our company. Through FundaciĆ³n Sempra Infraestructura, we work to promote the training, knowledge and skills of young Mexicans through scholarships, with a special emphasis on educational programs related to energy and environmental stewardship. In 2022, we allocated 4.6 million pesos for educational projects through organizations such as the Sonora Pro Scholarship Committee, Eduser, Carlos Elizondo Foundation, UABC Foundation, CETYS University and the Northwest Educational Institute, among others. Additionally, we have made significant investments in educational infrastructure with CETYS University, where we have supported the construction of a library and a gymnasium on the Ensenada campus.
Guided by our values, we continue to champion academic efforts in our communities to support future generations with the tools and skills necessary to build a better world.
