- In 2022, the Sempra Infrastructure, through its Foundation, donated supplies worth more than $350,000 to the Mexican Red Cross, including more than 20,000 Tyvek suits and two fully equipped ambulances.
Mexico City, Oct. 3, 2022. Sempra Infrastructure, through its Foundation, announced it has donated two fully equipped ambulances and medical supplies to the Mexican Red Cross, including 20,000 Tyvek suits and first-response personnel protection worth more than $350,000 as part of Sempra Infrastructure’s 2022 Solidarity Campaign.
“We always look forward to collaborating with the Red Cross, with which we share values such as solidarity, humanity and voluntary service to make a difference and care for the communities we serve,” said Tania Ortiz Mena, Sempra Infrastructure’s president for Mexico. “We are very grateful to be part of their team and contribute to the noble and tireless work they do every day for the well-being of Mexico.”
Since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, Sempra Infrastructure and its Foundation have partnered with the Mexican Red Cross by donating more than 85,000 medical supplies as well as baskets of basic products to help families most in need.
“We are very proud to once again reaffirm our alliance with Sempra Infrastructure and its Foundation. Thanks to their support throughout the years, we have been able to provide aid to Mexican families in need by investing more than US$1.7 million (35 million Mexican Pesos) to various of our programs and initiatives,” said Fernando Suinaga Cárdenas, national president of the Mexican Red Cross. “To move forward, our country requires everyone’s collaboration. We have proved that during the difficult times, we managed to continue supporting those most in need, thanks to the support of companies and foundations, such as the one led by Tania Ortiz Mena.”
The alliance between Sempra Infrastructure and the Mexican Red Cross began in 2015, when Sempra Infrastructure participated in the Winter Plan program in Sierra Tarahumara, Chihuahua to provide food, blankets and clothing to the Rarámuris communities. In addition, Sempra Infrastructure has contributed with humanitarian aid during natural disasters, emergency training, nursing scholarships in Nuevo León, an ambulance for the Rumorosa’s community, and more.
Sempra Infrastructure’s 2022 Solidarity Campaign closure event, celebrated today, was headed by Ortiz Mena and Suinaga Cárdenas. Alejandro Muguerza Limón, the Mexican Red Cross-National funding director, Red Cross’ employees, doctors, paramedics and volunteers, and Sempra Infrastructure management were also in attendance.
Since its establishment in 2015, the Foundation aims to improve and transform the quality of life of the communities Sempra Infrastructure serves through four pillars: education, environment, vulnerable groups and community services. During the Covid-19 pandemic, it added two more pillars: medical protection equipment and supplies, and food security.
