In honor of Earth month, Sempra LNG employees and their families celebrated our company’s commitment to sustainability by volunteering for local environmental clean-up events across the communities where we live and work.
San Diego, California
In San Diego, employees along with family members and friends gathered in partnership with I Love A Clean San Diego, for a litter clean-up throughout various parts of San Diego county participating either in person, or virtually in their neighborhoods. It was Sempra LNG’s first annual Earth Day Environmental Champions event. Approximately 100 pounds of litter were collected throughout San Diego county.
“We are proud to show support to our local community by participating in the Creek to Bay clean-up,” said Aida Burgueno, communications manager for Sempra LNG. “We look forward to continuing to champion environmental stewardship opportunities.”
Sabine Pass, Texas
Fifty Sempra LNG employees and their families participated in an environmental project with Texas Parks & Wildlife and Dick Dowling Lion’s Club for the clean-up and beautification of Bert Karrer Lion’s Park in Sabine Pass, Texas.
“Sempra LNG is committed to doing the right thing, championing people and communities, and shaping the future,” said Kelly Prasser, senior external affairs manager for Sempra LNG. “As we continue to create sustainable value and develop LNG projects that can support the global energy transition, we also are committed to putting our energy behind efforts that make a real difference in the community.”
The Sempra LNG environmental champions collected more than 40 bags of garbage and debris, removed rusted and dangerous playground equipment and picnic tables, built new park benches, and planted new flower beds.
Houston, Texas
In partnership with Buffalo Bayou, Sempra LNG Houston employees participated in a virtual clean-up by picking up litter in their neighborhood and parks throughout Houston. The Houston area storm water drainage system directs street water and debris into curb catch basins that route the runoff through an underground system that ultimately empties into the city’s bayous. Over 30 employees and their families helped clean-up and prevent debris and litter from reaching the waterways.
“Our backyard is part of the Galveston Bay watershed, and we are more connected than we think,” said Iman Garrett-Price, community outreach and events advisor for Sempra LNG. “We are committed to supporting a clean environment, helping to ensure a healthy and vibrant future for everyone.”
At Sempra LNG, sustainability is one of our key guiding principles. We are proud to partner with organizations in efforts to preserve and protect our natural environment.
